Research around the world has shown how Neocate helps support normal growth and development in infants and children with cow milk allegy and related gastrointestinal (GI) conditions.
The range and selection of all infant formulas available on the market can be overwhelming. If your child has a cow milk allergy or related GI and allergic conditions, most of these infant formulas might not be suitable for them.
Indeed, most formulas are milk or soy protein-based. If your child has cow milk allergy (CMA), there is a chance he or she will also react to the soy-based formula.
The extensively hydrolyzed formulas are developed by breaking down whole protein chains into smaller pieces. These formulas are less allergenic than AAF. These protein pieces are easier for children to digest, yet in some cases, they can still trigger allergic reactions.
This is where a hypoallergenic amino acid-based formula like Neocate comes into play.
Neocate formulas are made only with free amino acids, the simplest building blocks of protein and the least allergenic. These building blocks of protein are the easiest to digest and absorb, and unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.
Serum levels of micronutrients, particularly phosphorus, should be routinely monitored by clinicians when Neocate is used as a primary or sole source of nutrition for patients with complex systemic disease involving multiple diagnoses and intestinal disease*, especially in combination with tube feeding and/or a history of prematurity. Neocate** formulas are intended for use under medical supervision.
* A retrospective review identified case studies of patients on primary or sole source nutrition with diagnoses covering multiple systems, including congenital gastrointestinal anomalies and GI surgeries (such as necrotizing enterocolitis, esophageal atresia, tracheoesophageal fistula); neurological conditions (such as seizures, intraventricular hemorrhage, hydrocephalus); respiratory (lung disease, tracheostomy, aspiration); cardiac (congenital heart disease); and other systemic conditions, often in conjunction with tube feeding and/or a history of prematurity. ** Neocate is an amino acid-based formula for dietary management of cow milk allergy, multiple food protein allergies, and related GI and allergic conditions for which an amino acid-based diet is indicated.

Neocate Nutra is suitable for use in children and infants older than 6 months of age (not suitable as sole source of nutrition). Neocate Nutra is not intended for bottle or tube feeding.
For patients with severe or unresolved food allergy symptoms, amino acid-based formulas are sometimes the only formula that will help in their management.
The free amino acids in these formulas do not provoke the immune system into an allergic reaction.
Extensively hydrolyzed formulas (eHFs) contain peptides (or small protein fragments) derived from milk which can still end up causing an allergic reaction.
